This is a recording of the record release party for ‘SmileSunset’, a record I worked very hard on and love dearly. Peachy cried when she heard it and called it smileset and so it was. She and everybody I knew came to this gig.
I was just feeling so alright that night. Friends and love and Joey and my guitar and Worm and Huey and Forrest and No Bullshit and free drinks and Peachy. Makes me want to do a sequel. I’m so glad it was recorded and so pleased we can hear it.
Thanks to Jeff Cook for making it happen and to all the people who played and sang upstairs in that little room.

Recorded in 2018, after the last otherwise publicized activity of the band, this album could be described as sort of an acoustic "best of" album. On the one hand, this might just be for the diehards, but it does a good job showing what the band's about for newcomers. Compared to their overall catalog, Doublethink is closest in execution to Me and Mr. Ray and would make a good bonus disc if the latter finally got a new CD pressing. greencakenow
